While it’s nothing new for outlets to buzz incessantly about Robsten, what caught Gossip Cop’s attention this time was the implication that cast members plan to be open about a relationship that, until now, had to be kept “under wraps.”

“Everyone that’s part of the franchise is so happy for [Pattinson and Stewart],” an “insider” tells Life & Style. “They don’t feel the need to hide it anymore.”

Except no one was told to hide anything in the first place.

The notion that the Twilight cast’s “lips have been sealed” about Pattinson and Stewart is some revisionist history. There was never an edict from anyone. There was never a gag order. There was no Twilight state secret.

It’s simple: No one in the cast wished to comment on a third party’s private life. There was always enough respect among Pattinson, Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick, and everyone else on set that private lives stayed private.

Should Pattinson and Stewart decide to talk with the press about their lives, the others will take their cues about what is and isn’t appropriate. But when Breaking Dawn is green lit, no switch is flipped on a heretofore “hush-hush relationship.”

One final note: If Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart decide, of their own accord, to tell the world they’re dating during the (eventual) filming of the Twilight Saga’s next installment, Gossip Cop hopes it will have only one significant effect – to make their daily lives safer and happier than during the filming of Eclipse.

Everyone needs whatever level of privacy gives him or her comfort. And that was made impossible last summer by the paparazzi’s relentless pursuit of Pattinson and Stewart outside of restaurants, inside hotel lobbies, etc.

“Proof” of “love” (as Life & Style puts it) is less vital than the press “proving” itself decent and respectful.

Summit Entertainment wins injunction against Beckett Media for infringing 'Twilight' magazines

Summit Entertainment (the film studio responsible for the Twilight saga films and the critically-acclaimed The Hurt Locker), has won its cast against Beckett Media, a company who has been producing unauthorized magazines related to the Twilight series.
The allegations contained in the original complaint indicated that Beckett had been provided with a cease and desist letter, requiring the cessation of Beckett's use of Summit Entertainment's publicity photos from the Twilight series films, but that they had refused to comply with the demands. Summit Entertainment was granted a preliminary injunction against Beckett's continued use of the copyrighted items.
A representative from Summit issued a statement on the court's decision, saying "Summit Entertainment acted to protect its rights in a situation which found Beckett Media using copyrighted and trademarked images and materials relating to the Twilight films for Beckett's financial gain without an agreement in place with Summit to legally license the right to produce materials based on its film franchise. Beckett's sale of stand alone magazines under the name Twilight, and wholesale use of Summit's copyrighted material in a commercial product, went well beyond the intended purpose of Summit's publicity site. We applaud the court for its judgment in this matter."
If you haven't actually seen Beckett Media's materials, you can take a look at one of their Twilight covers here (or here) and see the use of two studio-owned pictures from the very start. In other words, it wasn't a case of grasping at straws . . the uses really were rather egregious.

'Eclipse' quotes of the week

This week's Eclipse quote discussion centers on Chapter 6, "Switzerland."
First of all, this chapter is one of the more . . . shall we say . . . exhausting of the many in Eclipse. Why? Well, there's a whirlwind of competitive spirits floating throughout the air.
Not only are Edward and Bella at odds over whether she is in good hands at La Push, but Edward's family - namely Alice - comes into the picture, too.
The chapter title's origin is rather obvious, and one quote particularly rings in the source.
"I want you to know something — when it comes to all this enemies nonsense, I’m out. I am a neutral country. I am Switzerland. I refuse to be affected by territorial disputes between mythical creatures. Jacob is family. You are… well, not exactly the love of my life, because I expect to love you for much longer than that. The love of my existence. I don’t care who’s a werewolf and who’s a vampire. If Angela turns out to be a witch, she can join the party, too" (Page 143).
Though she hasn't exactly won on the issue yet, Bella takes a stand against Edward's overprotective behavior. She knows what's best for her in this regard, and Jacob is a part of that.
She really expresses her understanding of Edward's callousness on the matter when she says to Alice, "Alice, don’t you think this is just a little bit controlling? Just a tiny bit psychotic, maybe?" (Page 146). She also reiterates the awkward contrariness of the situation when she says, "Yes, because a vampire slumber party is the pinnacle of safety conscious behavior" (Page 146). These two passages are some of the many moments where Bella echos the audience's potential sentiments by entertaining the pragmatic viewpoint . . even if only temporarily.
At the end of the debate, when Bella has informed Jacob she is unable to visit and surrendered to Alice's "kidnapping," Rosalie comes to call. If nothing else, Rosalie has been a perfect embodiment of the "Switzerland" notion, as she has not taken a stance either for or against Edward's opinion on the matter, yet. Her entry, then, brings a whole new voice to the issue.

Another thing that was accomplished in the chapter included Bella strengthening her relationship with Angela Weber. She, too, is a "Switzerland" sort of character, and, in fact, the neutrality of it all is one of the more attractive parts of Bella's visit with Angela. When Bella is at the home, helping Angela stuff envelopes for graduation invitations, she once again thinks about her intention to become a part of the undead community. It's the first time, really, that Bella's hesitance is bolstered by her relationship with the humans in her school . . . a human, rather.
All in all, the chapter was one of self-proclaimed neutrality. Aside from the escalating tension put upon Bella by her friendship with Jacob in contrast with her relationship with Edward, the chapter was one amidst progression. Here, we see Edward, once again, daring on that line of being too overprotective, but we also see that Bella is receptive to Edward's feelings on the subject. For her to put her foot down and declare herself "Switzerland," though, was certainly progress toward uniting fire and ice.

Pierce Brosnan Talks Rob and 'Remember Me

In his letter dated January 15th, on the home page of his official web site, Pierce writes about Remember Me:

I also shot "Remember Me" with Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Emilie de Ravin and the dashing Robert Pattinson, during the summer of 2009. We all found ourselves in the heart of Manhattan and Brooklyn surrounded by a couple hundred screaming teenage girls every day. For any young actor to be thrown into the ferocious limelight as Robert has been – must take its toll. He worked very hard and I wish him every success. Robert acquainted himself grandly. "Remember Me" will be in theaters March 12th.
